About the Department of Statistics

The Department of Statistics was established in 1965, with Dilip Kr. Bhattacharjee serving as the founder Head of the Department. Initially, the department functioned with only one room, which served as both a laboratory and a lecture room. Later, the Honours course in Statistics was introduced in the academic session 1983–84. Since its inception, the department has gradually expanded, and at present it has three rooms allotted for its academic activities.
